AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 3 CHAPTER 8 SECTION 11 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF CANTON LICENSE RESTRICTIONS
ADDING AN ADDITIONAL PARAGRAPH FOR ALL RESTAURANTS AND
SUPPER CLUB LICENSE HOLDERS
WHEREAS, the City of Canton in reviewing the restrictions on licenses has
determined that it is the best interest of the City to quantify the requirements for
restaurant and supper club licenses; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. All licenses for Class B and Class C shall only be issued to businesses
where 60 % of gross sales are for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
2. All license holders of Class B and Class C licenses being Supper Club and
Restaurants shall at the request of the Liquor Commission provide verified
financial reports from a certified accountant or a tax preparer providing
sufficient information and detail to establish that the gross sales of food
and non-alcoholic beverages are in excess of 60% of the businesses gross
sales.
3. Should the business fail to establish the minimum requirement s of 60% of
food and non-alcoholic beverages the license maybe suspended or
revoked after a hearing before the Liquor Commission.
4. That this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage
by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and
approval by the Mayor thereof.
