ORDINANCE NO. l/53
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF
CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS, BELONGING TO AFSCME
LOCAL #3585 LOCATED WEST OF 1014 W. LOCUST ST.,
CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AND REZONING THE SAME
PROPERTY FROM AN AG-1 ZONING CONFIGURATION TO A B-2
ZONING CONFIGURATION.
WHEREAS, a petition was filed with the City Clerk for the
annexation and rezoning of the real property described on the
attached Exhibit A.
WHEREAS, a public hearing on said petition was conducted by
the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Canton on April
14, 2003, pursuant to proper notice having been published in the
Daily Ledger;
WHEREAS, on April 14, 2003, the Planning and Zoning
Commission recommended to the City Council that the real property
described above be annexed to the City of Canton and rezoned
pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/7-1-1 et seq.; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Canton,
Illinois, that said real property be annexed to the City of Canton
and rezoned.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
1. That the territory described above be and it is hereby
annexed to the City of Canton, Illinois.
2. That the described real property be and it is hereby
rezoned from AG-1 zoning configuration to B-2, general business.

' 3. That the Zoning Administrator is directed to make the
appropriate changes to the zoning maps of the City of Canton to
show this annexation and rezoning.
4. That the City Clerk is directed to record with the
Fulton County Recorder and to file with the Fulton County Clerk a
certified copy of this Ordinance, together with an accurate map of
the annexed and rezoned territory.
5. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton and
approval by its Mayor.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this bth day of May, 2003,
upon a roll call vote as follows:

4 East of the Fourth Principal Meridian, Fulton County, Illinois, more
particularly described as follows and bearings are for descriptive
purposes only:
Commencing at a drill hole at the Center of said Section 28; thence
along the East line of the Southwest Quarter of said Section 28
bearing South 00 degrees 45 minutes 23 seconds West, a distance of
914.83 feet to the Southeast corner of the Canton Moose Lodge
property; thence along the South line of said Canton Moose Lodge
property and beyond bearing North 89 degrees 16 minutes 39 seconds
West, a distance of 499.81 feet to an iron rod; thence bearing North
00 degrees 45 minutes 23 seconds East, a distance of 108.29 feet to_ an
iron rod and the Point of Beginning of the parcel to be described:
