That we, t;he public officials representing our towns, cities and counties attending; this session in Peoria, Illinois, this 3rd da~T of September, 1_g65, and whose signatures are affixed hereto, do declare and affirm that t'r~e recommended interstate route connecting; the area beforehand described and proposed by Governor Gtto Kerner acid the Illinois liivision of Highways will. recognize the ammission from the Federal Highway Act of 1956 and will provide this area wi_ th tine t«ne of ~1ort~h-South transportation facility it has sorely laeked:these many years. Section 2. BE Ii' FLI~7'Ii'_;R ~:LSG1_VED that we commend Governor Otto Kerner and the Illinois Division of Highways for their foresight and judrrment in formulating; this proposal. Section 3. BE I~1~ F'UrtTi-i~';'r~ ~~~~SCI,Vr~D that we urge the I~'ederal Bureau of Ftoads to immediately adopt this recomrn~nded proposal and take trie necessary steps to cause this highway to become a reality as soon as possible. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and approved by the filayor this 7th day of Septem- ber A. D. 1965.
