HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #417.R $ RESOLUTION N0. l~17 M A Y O R S P R O C L A M A T I O N WHEREAS, many citizens of tho City of Canton have been and are now members of the Chicago Motor Club, and as such members of this local motoring organization, are also members of the American Automobile Association; and WHEREAS, ~s members of these organizations, these citizens of Canton are entitled, because of their support of the activities of these groups, to share in the recognition and expressions of appreciation accorded to them for their accomplishments in the area of civic betterment; a.nd WHEREAS, the Chicago Motor Club was founded in the year 1906 and this year of 1966 marks the 60th anniversary of the beginr~3ngs of its contributions in the field of street and highway improvements to the welfare of the citizens throughout the territory in which it operates, including our community; and WHEREAS, in the 60 years since its birth, the Chicago Motor Club has played a mayor role in improving motoring conditions and serving as protector and spokesman of Illinois motorists; and W~EAS, the Chicago Motor Club has, through its promotion of driver education, School Safety Patrols, pedestrian and elementary school safety, helped to make our streets and highways s of er; and WHEREAS, the Chicago Motor Club has served as a guiding force in support of both domestic and international travel; and WHEREAS, the Chicago Motor Club, for many years, has worked contincausly and vigorously for the r,onstruction of an improved, up-to-date system of highways in Illinois and throughout the nation to the benefit of our community as well as the entire state; NOW, THEREFORE, I, W. PAUL WOODS, NTAYOi~ of the City of Canton, Illinois, do hereby co~~end the members of the Chicago Motor Club, and particularly those who are Citizens of our community, .. z •a ~x•• on the occasion of the Club's 60th anniversary, for their organized activities in support of highway safety in the past, and express the hope that they may continue their efforts to the end that these valuable contributions to public welfare may serve our city and State in. the years to come.
