iNHEREAS, the City of Canton, Illinois, is desirous oi'
electing to participate in the program under the Illinois Police
`T'raining Act; and
WHERk;AS, in order that the said City be eligible 2"or
initial or continued participation in the program, the law re-
quires that before an individual may commence regular employment
as a Policeman, he must have been certii~ied by the Illinois Local
Governmental Law ~nt'orcement Oi'Yicers 't'raining ~ioard as having
successi'ully completed an approved training course; and
~YHEN.EAS, the City of Canton, Illinois, intends to
either establish its own school, or will utilize any other school
certified by said Board t~or the purpose of providing the basic
training required under said Act;
NOrV, '1'HER1.F'ORE, BE IT RESOLVEL` BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CAN TON, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. 't'hat the City of Canton hereby elects to
participate in the program provided f'or in the ILLINOIS POLICE
TRAINING ACT.
Section 1. 'T'hat before an individual may commence
regular employment as a Policeman, he must have been certified
by the Illinois Local Governmental Law Ln.i'orcement Of't"icers
'T'raining Board as having successfully completed and ~.pproved
training course as provided in said Act.
Section 3. That such basic training must be completed
by the trainee within his probationary period of 12 months.
