WHEREAS, members of the Canton City Police Department have
made request that Local 463 of the .American Federation of State,
County and Municipal Employees be recognized as their Union for
the purpose of bargaining with the City of Canton, Illinois and
entering into an employment contract touching on matters of their
employment, hours, working conditions, and wages.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT, AND IT HEREBY IS, RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
That the City of Canton, Illinois hereby recognizes
Local 463 of the .American Federation of State, County and Municipal
Employees as the Union or bargaining agent for the full time
employees of the Canton City Police Department, exclusive of the
Police Chief, and for the purpose of entering into an employment
contract touching on matters of the employment, working hours,
working conditions and wages of such of the full time employees of
the Police Department , exclusive of the Police Chief , of the City
of Canton, Illinois who are and remain members of said Local 463
and provided, however, that not less than a majority of said employees
of said Police Department, exclusive of the Police Chief, are and
at all times continue to remain members of said Local 463, and
PROVIDED, FURTHER, HOWEVER, that a secret election by written
ballot be first held under conditions satisfactory to this Council
and said Local 463 whereby the desires of at least a majority of
said employees of said Police Department, exclusive of the Police
Chief, is manifested for uch recognition by this Council of said
Local 463.
PASSED by the City Council and approved by the Mayor this
