WHEREAS, HARRY LONG, SR., has served the Fourth Ward of
the City of Canton, Illinois and, also, said City, as Alderman for
twelve years last past; and,
WHEREAS, said Harry Long, Sr., is now about to terminate
his service as Alderman aforesaid; and,
WHEREAS, his service as Alderman to his said Ward and City
has not only been honorable and loyal but characterized by devotion
to duty and principle as well; and,
WHEREAS, his said service has been implemented by personal
warmth and kindliness; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Canton,
Illinois are unanimous in the opinion that the service of Alderman
Harry Long, Sr., as above set forth, ought to be noted officially
and redorofthereof made in the annals of this City as a proper
expression/the gratitude of this City for the service of Alderman
Harry Long, Sr.,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT AND IT HEREBY IS RESOLVED BY THE
MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the service of Alderman Harry Long, Sr to the
Fourth Ward of the City of Canton, Illinois and said City has been
exemplary and notation thereof is hereby made for perpetuation in
the annals and official records of the City of Canton, Illinois.
2. That a copy of this Resolution, signed by the Mayor
and the Aldermen of this City be presented to Alderman Harry Long,
Sr. for such use of himself, his family and his friends as may be.
PASSED BY THE UNANIMOUS VOTE OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND SIGNED
BY THE MAYOR THIS ~=-- DAY OF MAY, A.D. 1971.
