R E S O L U T I O N -~ 5~~'
WHEREAS, the City of Canton, Illinois is a Municipal Corporation situated in
the County of Fulton in the State of Illinois; and,
WHEREAS, said City is limited in its resources and funds necessary to main-
tain peace and to preserve law and order; and,
WHEREAS, said City, therefore, has been necessarily reliant and dependent, in
part, therefor on the facilities of the County of Fulton, Illinois, including the
jail thereof; and,
WHEREAS, it appears that such dependence and reliance therefor of said City
will continue in the foreseeable future; and,
WH1~:REr1S, it has been made to appear that the Fulton County, Illinois jail is
in need or repair, rehabilitation, or reconstruction; and,
WHEREAS, it has been further represp_ited and made to appear that a manif~sta-
tion or declaration of the interest therein of the City of Canton, Illinois would
or might facilitate the funding necessa~y for such repair, rehabilitation or recon-
struction,
NOW, TIiEREFORE, BE IT AND IT ~HJRREBY IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS,
BY AND T~IROUGH ITS COUNCIL AND MAYf IN REGULAR rIE~;TING ASSE:~BLED:
That the repair, rehabilitation or reconstruction of the Fulton County, Illinois
jail as a functional facility, and its proper maintenance in the foreseeable future,
is necessary as a facility to maintain peace and to preserve law and order in said
City.
PASSED by t e Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approved by its
Mayor this E~day of June, A. D. 1971.
