A RESOLUTION APPOINTING DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND ZONING FOR THE
CITY OF CANTON
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Canton has determined that it is necessary and in
the best interests of the City of Canton to appoint a new Director of Planning and Zoning (or
"Zoning Administrator") due to the recent retirement of Bob Ackerman;
WHEREAS,Section 10-17-2 of the City Code of the City of Canton provides,"The zoning
administrator shall be appointed by the mayor, by and with the consent of the council on the first
Tuesday in May of each year,or as soon thereafter as may be,and shall hold his office for the term
of one year, and until his successor is duly appointed and qualified"
WHEREAS, the Mayor, Kent McDowell, has appointed Jon McQuilken to serve as the
City's Zoning Administrator/Director of Planning and Zoning;
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the appointment by the Mayor and further
consents to the appointment of Jon McQuilken to serve as the City's Zoning Administrator /
Director of Planning and Zoning.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CANTON,ILLINOIS,AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Jon McQuilken is hereby appointed as the City's Zoning Administrator/Director
of Planning and Zoning;
2. That Jon McQuilken shall perform all duties required by the City Code and applicable
law, and any duties otherwise directed by the Mayor;
5.That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the
City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois at a regular meeting this 5th
day of March, 2024 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Alderpersons Grimm,Nelson, Lovell,Hale, Gossett, Ketcham,Lingenfelter
NAYS:None
ABSENT: Alderperson Chamberlin
