Police Report. Police Chief Don Edwards said he had nothing to add to his report.
Fire Report. Fire Chief John Stanko highlighted his report. John mentioned the
upcoming changes by the Department of Labor concerning respirators. The department
is working to achieve compliance prior to the effective date of the rules which goes in
affect on July 1.
May 1 S John participated in a tabletop mass casualty exercise held at the River
Correctional Center. This was for a drill, which centered around a tornado incident with
extensive damage and numerous injuries. The department is continuing to work on
planning and training for such incidents in order to be better prepared when disaster
strikes.
Alderman Rick Reed thanked the ESDA Department for all the work they do besides
weather, they assist in directing traffic and also helped with the IH fire that happened
recently. Alderman Reed added they are very dedicated people.
Environmental Operations Inc. City Attorney Ron Weber updated the council
members of the contractor for this additional project in the amount of $192,000. This
will be on the Southeast corner where the buildings have already been taken down at the
IH site. The company has preformed well in the past, and this is a 9 month contract. Ron
said he will be bringing the resolution to the next council meeting.
Motion and second by Aldermen Reed/Carl, for City Attorney Ron Weber to have a
resolution for next council meeting to consider the contract of Environmental Operations
Inc in the amount of $192,000. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously.

Lake, Buildings & Grounds Committee

Lake Development Update. Alderman Reed mentioned that the road beginning at the
camp ground area to Lake View will be improved.
Greg Pollitt mentioned that the siltation dam that has been worked on is 99% complete.
In August the contractor will seed the ground to fmish the project. In about two weeks
the second site work will begin.
Greg Pollitt reported that it is nice to see water come over the spill way. Greg thanked
his crew for keeping up on the mowing and straighten up the area. Takes the employees
a whole week to do the task and then they begin again. Alderman Reed thanked them
and remazked about the great job they do on keeping the area looking nice, and how it
looks better than it has for along time.
Alderman Reed mentioned that gates that were put up recently have kept down
vandalism.
The campground is full almost every weekend, which is encouraging. The committee is
looking at additional sites and putting in water lines. Addressing the shower area for
improvements. The night security has made a difference, and Alderman Reed thanked
those who work this detail.
Signs of `welcome' are placed at several places around the boat dock azea. Also they
have placed signs with information of the cost of boat permits and licenses that are
needed. There is also a map showing the outline of the lake area.
The Beech azea, were trying to find someone to open it up. Would like to have benches
in the fishing azea and have talk to businesses about funding. And Greg Pollitt is
working on a brochure of the Canton Lake.

Mayor Bohler reminded the citizens to vote on June 29 for 1/2% sales tax referendum. If
approved this will help on keeping other taxes down.
Mayor Bohler reminded the council members of no meeting next week as there aze 5
Tuesdays in this month.
