HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-14-1999 MechanicalMechanical Committee ~ City Council Chambers December 14, 1999 - 6:30 p.m. Meeting held jointly with Clerical Committee Members Present: Jo Anne Shores, Jim Hartford, Jim May, Chet Phillips. Others Present: Mayor Donald E. Edwards, David Nidiffer, Bob Molleck, Larry Sarff, Jim Hartford, Jim Elson, Steve White, Chief Elam, Chief Stanko, Gary Orwig, Clif OBrien, Linda Caudle, Jim Snider, George Spahn, Clark Wilson, John Froehling. Public Safety & Traffic Committee Jo Anne Shores, Chairman Chief Elam reported that today he submitted a complete Y2K plan to Jim Snider and he stated that Monday, Denny Brown officially went to the schools as the school officer. The police department is still operating with one secretary so no written report was available. Chief Stanko said his written monthly report was self explanatory. They are working on hiring a new firefighter to replace fireman Calhoun who resigned recently. As an information item, Mayor Edwards stated that he, Chief Elam and Attorney Elson are reviewing the liquor ordinance. No other business was discussed. The Public Safety and Traffic Committee adjourned. Streets & Garbage Committee Chet Phillips, Chairman There was no business discussed under Streets and Garbage, and the committee adjourned. Lake, Buildings & Grounds Committee Jim Hartford, Chairman There was no business discussed and the committee adjourned. Public Works, Water & Sewer Committee Jim May, Chairman As an information item, Mayor Edwards informed committee that the city does not own the "150 year" wall adjacent to the city parking lot. Owner of the building, Bob Zook 1 wants to paint the wall and would like assistance in prom``~ing an idea campaign for designs. Linda Caudle will ask the Chamber of Commerce if they would assist Mr. Zook in this project. A request was made to the city by Terry Haynes, a UPS driver, that there is no place to park downtown to make deliveries. Clif O'Brien and Chief Elam will look into this problem. The condition of the 150 year parking lot was discussed. Clif O'Brien will take a look at it to see what needs to be done and will do some patching if possible.
