HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-18-2001 Mechanical Mechanical Committee Minutes City Council Chambers @ Historic Depot December 18, 2001 - 7:00 p.m. (immediately after regular Council Meeting) Members Present: Jo Ann Shores, Kevin Meade Others Present: Mayor Jerry M. Bohler, Attorney Ron Weber, Craig West, Mary Fillingham, Jim Hartford, Larry Sarff, Steve White, Gary Orwig, Clif O'Brien, Chief Elam, Chief Stanko, George Spahn, Clark Wilson, Pam Smith, Linda Caudle, Harlan Banister, John Froehling, Joe Ginger Public Safety & Traffic Committee Robert Molleck, Chairman There was not a quorum to conduct business due to the absence of Alderman Nidiffer and Alderman Molleck. Mayor Bohler served as a voting member of the committee to make up a quorum. In the absence of Chairman Molleck, Alderman Meade presided. Chief Elam distributed the monthly written police report. He thanked the local MADD Chapter for honoring four police officers. Chief Elam also acknowledged Vivian Foster, a graduate of the citizen's police academy, for her volunteer hours and committed community service. Chief Stanko distributed the written monthly fire and ESDA report. He added that last month there was a large increase in the call load which is up 6% overall. Chief Stanko asked the committee for guidance on selling or trading the old fire truck when the new vehicle arrives this summer. The company that is providing the new vehicle offered a $2,000 trade in. However, if we prefer to sell it outright, they will post it on their web site at no charge. They feel the City would be able to sell the vehicle for more than $2,000. Attorney Weber said that the council must pass an Ordinance for the manner of sale of personal property before disposal of the vehicle. A Motion was made by Alderman Meade, seconded by Mayor Bohler to allow the company to place the fire truck on their web site at no charge to the City stating that it would not be available until summer and allow the City Attorney to draft an ordinance for the manner of sale of this vehicle. Voice vote motion carried. No other business was discussed. The Public Safety and Traffic Committee adjourned. Streets & Garbage Committee Jo Anne Shores, Chairman No business was on the agenda to be discussed. Clif informed the committee that garbage pickup on Holidays is always the next regular pickup day. No other business was discussed. The committee adjourned. Lake, B ildings & Grounds Committee David Nidiffer, Chairman In the absence of Chairman Nidiffer, Alderman Shores presided. There were no items on the agenda for the Lake, Buildings and Grounds Committee. As an informational item, Clif gave an update on the installation of the new water line. Today they were up to 13~' Avenue. No other business was discussed and the committee adjourned. Public Works, Water & Sewer Committee Kevin Meade, Chairman Steve White presented a memo regarding a contract modification with Crawford, Murphy, and Tilly Engineers on the filter rehabilitation project. CMT requested an additional $24,200 for additional work and hours required to complete the project. City administration felt that the project should be completed at the level CMT had estimated but for a negotiated cost of $15,000. This will be paid out of the 84 account. A Motion was made by Mayor Bohler, seconded by Alderman Shores to approve the additional cost to Crawford, Murphy and Tilly for $15,000 for additional work on the filter rehab project.
