The other Aldermen present were Jim Hartford, Larry Sarff and Craig West. Others Present: Mayor Jerry Bohler, City Attorney Ron Weber, Fire Chief John Stanko, Police Chief Don Edwards, WWT Supt. Gary Orwig, Water Plant Assist Greg Pollitt, George Spahn for Clif O'Brien Supt of Streets, Zoning Officer Clark Wilson, Nancy Whites City Clerk, City Treasurer Patty Beaird Franzoni, Joe Ginger Video Services, News media -John Froehlin ,Seth Tre co. Public Safety & Traffic Committee Robert Molleck, Chairman Firc Report -John Stanko Chief. John mentioned that last month was the busiest month in recent history. Not in the report was the Hydrant repairs that Clif O'Brien and Bill Terry did for the fire department. John said he appreciated their efforts. Alderman Jim 1artford mentioned about the new class for Fire Academy. Jim said there is a lot of equipment you have to wear, which I had no concept of. John thanked Jim for his comments and mentioned how proud he was of the department, as they are volunteering their time and enjoying the session. 1'olicc Report -Don Edwards Chief. Don said he had nothing to add to the report. Intcr~~m•ernmental Cooperative Agreement - ESDA. Motion and second by :~I~lcrmen Molleck/Shores, to remove the agreement from the agenda. Voice vote, nu,ti~~n carried unanimously. I L~• ~trcets & Garbage Committee adjourned at 6:38 p.m. Lake Buildings & Grounds Committee Les Carl, Chairman Agreement with River City Demolition -Drow Building Demolition. Mayor Bohler was asked by Maurer Stutz Inc. engineer Colin Edwards to have the council accept the agreement with River City, and when the certificate of insurance and bond have been received, then River City can proceed to demolish the Drow Building. Motion and second by Aldermen CarUMolleck, to approve of the agreement with River City Demolition and to proceed with demolition of the Drow Building when the Certificate and Bond are received by the City. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously. The committee adjourned at 6:41 p.m. Public Works, Water & Sewer Committee Kevin Meade, Chairman WWTP to seek State Bids for New Truck. Gary Orwig's memo mentions a trade in of a 1992 GMC that has 135,000 miles and has many problems, some to expensive to repair. Motion and second by Aldermen Molleck/Shores, to allow the WWTP to seek bids for a new truck and bring to the committee. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously. Alderman Meade had Greg Pollitt talk about the smell and bad taste of the City's water. Greg said the water is safe to use and drink. Because of colder air and the lake level being down is causing the smell and bad taste. We have increased the carbon dosage, and this all takes time to get through the system. We have knowledgeable operators on top of things, and we have noticed improvements in the smell and taste at the plant. Alderman Hartford mentioned that a Town Hall meeting is planned for Thursday the 24`h at 6:30 p.m. at Puche's. The public is invited. Alderman West mentioned the Heritage Committee will be presenting a special event...'Bootleggers, Flappers and Klansmen,' and is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, November 3, at the Historic Depot in Canton. Dr. John Hallwas, author, teacher and historian, will discuss the Jazz Age and its changing values. The program is free and sponsored by the Canton Heritage Committee, Mid America National Bank and the Illinois Humanities Council. The committee adjourned at 6:45 p.m. EXECUTIVE SESSION -FOR PURPOSE OF NEGOTIATIONS, GRIEVANCE & PERSONNEL - FIRE CONTRACT. Motion and second by Aldermen Molleck/Shores, to go into executive session for Fire Contract. Roll call. AYES - 2 Aldermen Shores, Meade, Cazl, West, Sazff, Hartford, Molleck.
