Bohler, Attorney Ron Weber, Dave White, Craig West, Jim Hartford, Greg Pollitt, Gary Orwig, Clif O'Brien, Chief Elam, Chief Stanko, Clark Wilson, Linda Caudle, John Froehling, Joe Ginger Public Safety & Traffic Committee Robert Molleck, Chairman Chief Stanko distributed the monthly fire report for December along with the ESDA report. Chief Elam distributed the monthly police report for December. He noted that Mauer Stutz will be moving from their downtown location Friday and Saturday requiring a few parking spaces to be blocked off on the square The police department will notify other businesses in the area. The animal pound was inspected and found to be in complete compliance. Chief Elam also discussed the Christmas watch program and thanked the auxiliary officers for their time involved in this program. Chief Elam reported difficulty in securing a crossing guard for one of the seven locations where there are just 3 children crossing. If anyone is interested in a crossing guard position, they may contact Chief Elam. The police department may talk with the parents of the three children to consider dropping that crossing guard location. Chief Elam informed the committee that a meeting was held with liquor license holders, and police officers to discuss their changes and how those changes affect the ordinance. Elam would like to schedule a meeting with the city attorney, police officers, liquor license holders and Chairman Fillingham to review the ordinance to see what changes are necessary. A Motion was made by Alderman Meade, seconded by Alderman Shores to allow Chief Elam to schedule a meeting to discuss the liquor ordinance. Voice vote, motion carried. The Public Safety and Traffic Committee adjourned. Streets & Garbage Committee Jo Anne Shores, Chairman No business was on the agenda to be discussed, and the committee adjourned. Lake, Buildings & Grounds Committee David Nidiffer, Chairman In the absence of Chairman Nidiffer, Alderman Meade presided. Linda informed the committee that she and Dave White had been researching the possibility of applying for grants to financially i t the u dates needed for theme Wastewater Plant as previously authorized by Council. A ass s p meeting was held last week with Dave White, Linda Caudle, Gary Orwig, Colin Edwards of Mauer Stutz and Pam Miner of Western Illinois Regional Council. If successful in the applications for assistance, the City could receive up to $525,000 in grant funding that would not have to be repaid. Colin Edwards will work with WIRC under his retainer to provide the information required for the grant application. He is expecting the cost not to exceed $3,000. A Motion was made by Alderman Molleck, seconded by Alderman Shores to approve a work order to allow Mauer Stutz to work on the grant application with the funds to come from their retainer, providing there is enough funds in the retainer. Voice vote, motion carried. As an informational item, Linda informed the committee that the Canton Heritage Committee has scheduled three events for Spring at the Historic Depot that are free and open to the public. The first will be held Sunday, February 3`d at 1:30 p.m. and will be on Antique Valentines. No other business was discussed and the committee adjourned.
