AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CAMPING FEES FOR LAKE CANTON PER SECTION
8-11-7-5 (A)(2)(a) OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, Section 8-11-7-5(A)(2)(a) of the Canton Municipal Code states that the
camping fees for Lake Canton shall be as follows for residents of the City of Canton: Eight
dollars ($8.00) per night for sites with no electric, nine dollars ($9.00) per night for tent sites
using electric and ten dollars ($10.00) per night for camper sites using electric; and
WHEREAS, Section 8-11-7-5(A)(2)(a) of the Canton Municipal Code states that the
camping fees for Lake Canton shall be as follows for non-residents of the City of Canton: Fifteen
dollars ($15.00) per night for sites with no electric, seventeen dollars ($17.00) per night for tent
sites using electric and twenty dollars ($20.00) per night for camper sites using electric; and
WHEREAS, the City Council increased camping costs for non-residents per Ordinance
No. 1972, passed April 21, 2009; and
WHEREAS, re-evaluation of the camping costs versus use of the camp ground caused
the City to determine that the fees for non-residents should be decreased in an effort to attract
non-resident campers and to reflect the state of the camp sites offered; and
WHEREAS, the Lakes, Buildings and Grounds Committee has determined that it is
necessary and in the best interests of the citizens of Canton, Illinois to amend Section 8-11-7-
5(A)(2)(a) of the Canton Municipal Code to increase the camping fees to reflect said decrease;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the foregoing recitals of fact are found to be true.
2. That Section 8-11-7-5(A)(2)(a) of the Canton Municipal Code shall hereby be
amended to read as follows:
For residents of the City of Canton (a) Eight dollars ($8.00) per night for sites with no electric,
nine dollars ($9.00) per night for tent sites using electric and ten dollars ($10.00) per night for
camper sites using electric; and
For non-residents: (a) Twelve dollars ($12.00) per night for sites with no electric, thirteen dollars
fifty cents ($13.50) per night for tent sites using electric and fifteen dollars ($15.00) per night for
camper sites using electric.
For purposes of this section, "resident" is defined as all persons whose principal residence is
within the corporate limits of the City of Canton; or, who have lake lot leases and who are
current on lease payments and who are otherwise in full compliance with their lease provisions.
The address as set forth on the applicant's driver's license shall be prima facie proof of
residence.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting
this 6th day of Apr i 1 , 2010 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Reed, Schenck, West, Sarff, Rivero Ellis, Hartford,
Pickel.
