AN ORDINANCE DELETING SECTION 9-5-9(A) (ALL NIGHT PARKING) OF THE
CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that the prior
prohibition of no parking anywhere in the City of Canton between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and
6:00 a.m. does not accurately reflect the parking needs of the City of Canton; and
WHEREAS, the prior prohibition was passed via Ordinance 117 in 1964; and
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that it is necessary and
in the best interest of the citizens of Canton, Illinois to delete Section 9-5-9(A) of the Canton
Municipal Code so that the parking needs of the City are accurately reflected and enforced; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,
Illinois as follows:
(1) That Section 9-5-9(A) (All Night Parking) of the Canton is hereby deleted.
(2) That the remaining portions of Section 9-5-9 remain in effect.
(3) That the elimination of Section 9-5-9(A) does not affect Section 9-5-2 (Snow
Removal).
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting
this 6th day of Apr i 1 , 2010.
AYES: Aldermen Reed, Schenck, West, Sarff. Rivero, Ellis, Hartford,
Pickel.
NAYS: None .
