AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND SUPPLEMENTING CHAPTER 10 (TAXICABS)
OF ARTICLE 3 (BUSINESS REGULATIONS) PROVIDING FOR LOCATIONS OF
TAXICAB STANDS, PURSUANT TO THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE, IN THE
COUNTY OF FULTON, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Streets and Garbage Committee has determined that it is necessary and in the
best interest of the citizens of Canton, Illinois to allow for two locations for the Little Giant Taxi
Service in the city of Canton, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,
Illinois as follows:
Section 1:
3-10-7: LOCATIONS OF TAXI STANDS:
(A) The areas approved by ordinance are hereby designated as taxi stands and shall be used
for the temporary standing or parking of such vehicles:
1. First Avenue, west side, beginning 89 feet south of the southwest corner of
Elm Street along the westerly curb line, continuing 20 feet south.
2. First Avenue, west side, beginning 109 feet south of the southwest corner of
Elm Street along the westerly curb line, continuing 20 feet south.
(B) It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to stand or park any other vehicle in a
taxi cab stand above designated, except that the operator of such vehicle may temporarily
stop such vehicle in any such stand for the purpose of, and while actually engaged in, the
loading or unloading of passengers.
Section 2:
If any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause or provision of this ordinance shall be adjudged
invalid, such adjudication shall apply only to this section, paragraph, subdivision, clause or
provision so adjudged and that the remainder of the ordinance shall be deemed valid and
effective.
Section 3:
All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with or in conflict with the ordinance are
hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
Section 4:
This ordinance shall take effect immediately after final passage, adoption and publication
according to law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting
this 21st day of April , 2009 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Schenck, Berardi, Sarff, West, Ellis, Ihnes,
Strandberg.
NAYS: None .
ABSENT: Alderman Lewis .
