ORDINANCE NO. .119 7
AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A SPECIAL USE PERMIT FOR THE
OPERATION OF A PROFESSIONAL ARCHITECTUAL OFFICE AT 344
WEST CHESTNUT STREET TO WILLIAM F. PHILLIPS, PHILLIPS AND
ASSOCIATES ARCHITECTS, INC. AND ANY SUCCESSIVE
PROFESSIONAL ARCHITECTUAL ENTITIES OF WILLIAM F. PHILLIPS
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, that the territory
hereinafter described is located within the corporate limits of said City of Canton; and
WHEREAS, A Petition was filed by Graham Hospital Association William F. Phillips, Phillips
and Associates Architects, Inc. requesting a special use permit for the benefit of William F. Phillips and
Phillips and Associates Architects, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, notice of a petition for re-zoning of the subject property from R-3 to R-4 and a
notice of a petition for a special use permit were published separately within said City and County, all in
accordance with the Statutes of the State of Illinois and the Ordinances of the City of Canton; and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission did recommend and the City Council did
approve the re-zoning of the subject property from a R-3 zoning configuration to a R-4 zoning
configuration; and
WHEREAS, No objectors appeared at the hearing upon the Petition for the granting a special
use permit and said Planning and Zoning Commission did thereupon make favorable findings of fact
and did recommend to the Canton City Council that said special use permit be issued for a professional
architectural office at 344 West Chestnut Street, Canton, Illinois.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois hereby finds the
foregoing recitals to be fact.
2. That a special use permit for the operation of a professional architectural office be issued
to William F. Phillips, Phillips & Associates Architects, Inc. and any successive architectural entities
that William F. Phillips may organize or incorporate for the property at 344 West Chestnut Street,
Canton, Illinois, affecting the real property being legally described as follows:
A part of Lot Number Sixteen (16) in FRENCH'S ADDITION to the Town
(now City) of Canton, Illinois, bounded and described as follows:
Commencing at a point 118 feet West of the Northeast corner of said Lot 16;
thence running West 113 feet; thence south 180 feet; thence East 113 feet;
thence North 180 feet, to the point of beginning, situated in the County of
Fulton and State of Illinois.
Common Address: 344 West Chestnut Street, Canton IL 61520
3. That the record of the City of Canton appropriate documents, maps and related
regulations be and the same hereby are amended to reflect the foregoing special use permit granted
herein.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at a regular meeting

AYES: Aldermen Hartford, Ellis, Rivero, Sarff, West,
Schenck, Reed.
