Edwards Way th 50 North 4 Avenue, Canton, Il 61520 A regular meeting of the Canton City Council was held on July 18, 2023 (6:30pm) at the Historic th Depot located at 50 North 4 Avenue Canton Illinois. STAFF IN ATTENDANCE: Mayor Kent McDowell, City Clerk Andi Walters, Treasurer Crystal Wilkinson, Fire Chief Scott Roos, Police Chief Michael Eveland, Utility Director Joe Carruthers, Public Information Officer Edward Glad MEDIA IN ATTENDANCE: Fulton Democrat PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE OPENED THE MEETING INVOCATION – Mayor Kent McDowell PUBLIC PARTICIPATION – Flint DeWitt from “Just Chillin’ Ice & Water” was in attendance to bring to the Councils attention, the increase in his water bill. COMMITTEE REPORTS: FINANCE ALDERPERSON ANDRA CHAMBERLIN, CHAIR DISCUSS CONSIDER AND VOTE ON APPROVING A QUOTE FROM BRANNAN’S WINDOWS FOR FIRE STATION WINDOW REPLACEMENT. This is a budgeted item. Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Chamberlin/Nelson to approve a quote from Brannan’s Windows for Fire Station Window Replacement. LABOR AND EMPLOYEMNT ALDERPERSON RALPH GRIMM, CHAIR PUBLIC SAFETY AND LEGAL ALDERPERSON JUSTIN NELSON, CHAIR DICUSS CONSIDER AND VOTE ON APPROVAL OF EMERGENCY REPAIRS TO SQUAD 1 TO RETURN TO FRONTLINE SERVICE. The Heavy Rescue, which houses equipment for Hazmat Materials and Technical Rescue, needs the fuel filter system replaced. It will cost $5,762.15 to change out the entire fuel system. Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Nelson/Grimm to approve Emergency Repairs to Squad 1 to return to frontline service. JED RHOADES Tabled PUBLIC WORKS ALDERPERSON ANGIE LINGENFELTER, CHAIR DISCUSS CONSIDER AND VOTE ON A RESOLUTION APPROVING A STANDARD SHORT FORM PROPSAL AND AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES. This is with Marur-Stutz and is for the Canton Waste Water Plant to complete the designs for the upgrades for the Waste Water Plant. Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Lingenfelter/Hale to approve a Resolution for Standard Short Form Proposal and Agreement for Professional Services. This event will be from 12:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and is a repeat event regarding the Cornhole Tournament. Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Hale/Ketcham to approve a Special Event and th Road Closure for Jim McGinnis Benefit to be held on August 19, 2023.
