RESOLUTION No. `7~ ~
(A RESOLUTION ABATING THE Ir?POSITION OF CERTAIN ~A}:ES)
WHEREAS, the Corporate Authorities of the City of Canton, Illinois
heretofore enacted Ordinance No. 508 , which, inter alia, provided for the
issuance of sewer bonds as general obligation bonds against the City of Canton,
Fulton County, Illinois and which, further, provided a levy therefor in the
amount of ~ 89,790.00 for the year 176 with directions to the
County Clerk of Fulton County, Illinois to provide this amount for such
pur-nose and for said year of 1976 ; and,
't,fTiEREAS, it now appears that the City of Canton, Illinois has available
the sum of ~ 89,790.00 for application to the payment of principal-and
interest on said bonds and so that it is not now necessary to raise this
amount by taxation for the year 1%76 as provided in said Ordinance No. 508 ;
and,
;•JHEREaS, by reason thereof, taxes to be spread by the County Clerk of
Fulton Couhty, Illinois, for the year 1976 , may and ought to be abated
accordingly,
NOI~, THERr,FORE, BE IT, AND IT HEREBY IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLIrtOIS, as follows: that the tax levy for the year
1;x76 for the purpose of paying principal and interest on sewer bonds of said
City, as provided in said Ordinance No. 508 , constituting general obligations
of said City be, and the same hereby is, abated in the amount of ~ 89790.00 __
for the year 1°76 and the County Clerk of Fulton County, Illinois is hereby
advised, directed and authorized not to extend the sum of ~ 8%,790.00
of said tax levy, provided, however, that this Resolution shall not in any
manner affect the tax levies by said tax Ordinance No. 508 provided for
any year excepting said year of 1976
BE IT, AND IT TT~3~BY IS, FU.~THER RESOLVED: that the City Clerk of this
City is hereby directed to file with the County Clerk of Fulton County,
Illinois a certified copy of this Resolution as his authority to abate the
taxes for this year 1976 in the amount above provided.
