HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #0683! .... ti ~~ ORDINANCE NO . ~^, S~,~ AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A STOP SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION OF MAIN STREET AND ELM STREET IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS. WHEREAS, the Streets and Traffic Committee of the City of Canton, Illinois has determined that it is necessary to place a stop sign at the intersection of Main Street and Elm Street in the City of Canton, Illinois; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: 1. A stop sign shall be placed at the Southeast corner of Main Street at the intersection of Main Street and Elm Street and every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection shall bring the vehicle to a complete stop before entering said intersection and shall then proceed only when a safe interval occurs in the traffic. 2. That the appropriate officials of the City shall post appropriate signs informing people of this Ordinance. 3. Any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not less than Five Dollars ($5.00), nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each offense. 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof and publication according to law.
