ORDINANCE N0. `~
AN ORDINANCE FOR LEVYING TAXES FOR CORPORATE PURPOSES OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS,
FOR THE FISCAL YEAR OF SAID CITY, 1978 - 1979.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, did on the 18th
day of July, A.D., 1978, pass the Annual Appropriation Ordinance of the City of
Canton, Illinois for the Fiscal Year of 1978, beginning on the first Tuesday in May,
1978 and ending on the first Tuesday in the month of May, A.D. 1979 and in the amount
which was appropriated was the sum of $3,617,067.00 which said Appropriation Ordinance
was duly approved by the Mayor of said City on the 18th day of July, A.D., 1978 and
which said Annual Appropriation Ordinance was, on the 25th day of July, A.D., 1978,
duly published in the Canton Daily Ledger, a daily secular newspaper of general cir-
culation, published in said City of Canton, Illinois, for a period of over one year
prior to said publication.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINCED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON,
ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That there be and there is hereby levied on all the property
subject to taxation within the corporate limits of the City of Canton, Illinois as
the same is assessed and equalized for State and County purposes for the current
year, for the Fiscal Year of said City of Canton, Illinois beginning on the first
Tueasday in the month of May, A.D., 1978 and ending on the first Tuesday in the month
of May, A.D., 1979, the total sum of $891,920.00 for the following specified purposes:

PUBLIC BENEFIT FUND:
A tax not to exceed .05% of the full, fair
cash value, as equalized or assessed by the
Department of Revenue of the State of Illinois
on all taxable property within the City of
Canton, Illinois to be known as the Public
Benefit Fund to be solely for the purpose of
paying that portion of several amounts hereto-
fore assessed against the City for public
benefits under and in pursuance of any
Ordinance that may be hereafter passed or
assessed against the City:
