HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #0638•'° `e ;w• '~, :, ORDINANCE N0. (p~fl AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR STOP SIGNS AT CERTAIN INTERSECTIONS IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS. WHEREAS, the Streets and Traffic Committee and the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the City of Canton, Illinois have determined that it is necessary to place stop signs at certain intersections in the City of Canton, Illinois, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS: 1. A stop sign shall be placed at the following intersections and every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersections shall bring the vehicle to a complete stop before entering said intersection and shall then proceed only when a safe interval occurs in the traffic: Southeast corner of Thirteenth Avenue at the intersection of East Myrtle Street and Thirteenth Avenue. Northwest corner and Southeast corner of Fifteenth Avenue at the intersection of East Myrtle Street and Fifteenth Avenue. 2. That the appropriate officials of the City shall post appropriate signs informing people of this Ordinance. 3. Any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not less than Five Dollars ($5.00), nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each offense. 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, Approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication according to law.
