AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR STOP SIGNS AT VARIOUS INTERSECTIONS IN
THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, the Streets and Traffic Committee and the Legal and
Ordinance Committe of the City of Canton, Illinois have determined
that it is necessary to place stop signs at various intersections
in the City of Canton, Illinois, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has
,made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTOPI, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. A stop sign shall be placed at the following intersections
and every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection
shall bring the vehicle to a complete stop before entering said in-
tersection and shall then proceed only when a safe interval occurs
in the traffic:
Northwest corner of Van Buren Court (alley) at the intersection
of East Maple Street and Van Buren Court.
Northeast corner of Liberty Place (alley) at the intersection of
North Sixth Avenue and Liberty Place.
Southeast corner of Orchid Court at the intersection of East Ash
Street and Orchid Court.
Southeast corner of Iris Court at the intersection of East Ash
Street and Iris Court.
Northwest corner of Thirteenth Avenue at the intersection of East
Ash Street and Thirteenth Avenue.
Southwest corner of Linden Street at the intersection of North
Fourth Avenue and Linden Street.
Southwest corner o.f Poplar Street at the intersection of North
Fourth Avenue and Poplar Street.
Southwest corner of Palm Street at the intersection of North Fourth
Avenue and Palm Street.
Southwest corner of Pecan Street at the intersection of North Fourth
Avenue and Pecan Street.
Southwest corner of Gettysburg Drive at the intersection of North
Fourth Avenue and Gettysburg Drive.
Southwest corner of New Salem Street at the intersection of North
Fourth Avenue and New Salem Street.
Southwest corner of Lincoln Road at the intersection of North Fourth
Avenue and Lincoln Road.
Southwest corner of Harvester Lane at the interse ction of North
Fourth Avenue and Harvester Lane.

Southwest corner of Ingersoll Boulevard at the intersection of
North Fourth Avenue and Ingersoll Boulevard.
2. That the appropriate officials of the City shall post appropriate
signs informing people of this Ordinance.
3. Any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be subject to a fine of not less than Five Dollars ($5.00), not more
than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each offense.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten days
after its passage by the City Council of the City o.f Canton, Illinois,
Approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication according to law.
PASSED by the City Council of Canton, Illinois and APPROVED by the
