AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 9, CHAPTER 10, SECTION 2 (D), PARAGRAPH
2 OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING PARKING IN THE BUSINESS
DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, the Streets and Traffic Committee and the Legal and
Ordinance Committee of the City of Canton, Illinois have determined
that it is necessary, desirable and to the best interests of the City
of Canton to permit all day parking in parking lots owned by the City
of Canton; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has
made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Title 9, Chapter 10, Section 2 (D), Paragraph 2 of the
Canton Municipal Code be, and the same is hereby amended to read as
follows:
Parking spaces or stalls shall be marked and designated,
as hereinafter set forth within the Business District,
for the parking of motor vehicles and it shall be unlawful
for any person to park any motor vehicle within any such
parking spaces or stalls for more than two (2) consecutive
hours between the hours of nine o'clock (9:00) in the
morning and five o'clock (5:00) in the evening of any
week day (excepting only of such national holidays as may
be determined and promulgated by the Congress or President
of the United States). However, all day parking shall be
permitted in parking lots owned by the City of Canton,
Illinois for the use and convenience of the public for
parking motor vehicles therein, but it shall be unlawful
for any person to park any motor vehicle in any parking
lot owned by the City of Canton, Illinois between the
hours of two o'clock (2:00) A.M. and six o'clock (5:00)
A.M. on any day except for physicians on emergency calls."
2. That the remainder of Title 9, Chapter 10, Section 2 (D)
of the Canton Municipal Code remain in full force and effect.
3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon
its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and
approval by the Mayor thereof.
