ORDINANCE NO . ~ c~ ~
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 1, SECTIONS 1 and 3 (k) OF THE
CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING PUBLIC WORKS.
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the City of Canton, Ill-
inois has determined that it is necessary to modify and amend certain
sections of the Public Works Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has made a
similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAN-
TON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Title 8, Chapter 1, Section 1 of the Canton Municipal Code be,
and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"8-1-1: DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS: There is hereby extablished
an executive department of the City Government, which shall be
known as the Department of Public Works, and shall embrace the
Board of Local Improvements, the City Engineer, the Superintendent
of Streets, the Superintendent of Water and Sewer Distribution,
the Chief Operators of the Water Treatment Plant and Sewage
Treatment Plant and such assistants and employees as the City Council
may provide.
2. That Title 8, Chapter 1, Section 3 (k) of the Canton Municipal Code
be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
~~-1-3: CITY ENGINEER; ASSISTANT: (k) Other Duties: He shall also
perform such other duties as may be required of him by the Board of
Local Improvements, the Mayor or Council in the prosecution and con-
struction of any public improvements within or under the control of
the City, as shall require the skill and experience of a civil eng-
ineer. He shall also coordinate with the advice and consent of the
Council and the various committees thereof, the activities of the
Department of Public Works."

3. That the reaminder of Title 8, Chapter 1, Public Works, Adminis-
tration, remain in full force and effect.
4. That this Amendatory Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois
and approved by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and APPROVED
