ORDINANCE N0. S ~~

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6, CHAPTER 9, SECTIONS 3, 6 and 11 OF THE
CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING THE AUXILIARY POLICE FORCE.
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the City of Canton, Illinos
has determined that it is necessary to modify and amend certain sections
of the Auxiliary Police Ordinance; and
[,1HEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has made a sim-
filar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON,
ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Title 6, Chapter 9, Section 3 of the Canton Municipal Code be,
and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"6-9-3: RE(~UIREMENTS: Auxiliary Policemen shall meet the following
minimum requirement:.: Each of them shall be adult persons residing
no more than ten (10) miles beyond the corporate limits of the City
of Canton as the same now or may hereafter exist, shall not be mem-
bers of the regular Polce:'Department.o~t.he City, shall be of good
morals and character, and shall not have ever been convicted of a
felony or any crime involving moral turpitude."
2. That Title 6, Chapter 9, Section 6 of the Canton Municipal Code be,
and the same is hereby amended to read as follows;
"6-9-6: UNIFORMS,: Auxiliary Policemen shall wear appropriate uniforms
while on duty. Such uniforms shall not be provided at the expense of
the City. Such uniforms shall be different and distinct from those
used by the members of the regular Police Department of the City and
any identification symbols worn thereon shall likewise be different
and distinct from those used by members of the regular Police Depart-
ment of the City. Such uniforms and identification symbols shall be
as provided by the corporate authorities of the City."

3. That Title 6, Chapter 9, Section 11 of the Canton Municipal Code be,
and the same is hereby deleted.
4. That the remainder of Title 6, Chapter 9, Auxiliary Police Force,
remain in full force and effect.
5. That this Amendatory Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon
its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and
approved by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and APPROVED
