AN ORDINANCE APPROVING EMERGENCY REPAIRS UP TO $50,000.00 AT THE
INTERSECTION OF MAIN STREET AND OLIVE STREET AND WAIVING
COMPETITIVE BIDDING REQUIREMENTS REGARDING SAME
WHEREAS, the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois ("City"), is a non -home rule unit
of government;
WHEREAS, the City is in need of necessary emergency repairs to the sewer systems and
manholes at or near the intersection of Main Street and Olive Street in Canton, Illinois (the
"Emergency Repairs");
WHEREAS, Laverdiere Construction, Inc. is able and willing to assist the City's crews in
making the Emergency Repairs, however, the total and final costs associated with the Emergency
Repairs is unknown at the time of this Ordinance;
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities find it to be clearly in the public's interest to proceed
with the ordering and making the Emergency Repairs and have agreed, by this Ordinance, by at
least a vote of two-thirds (2/3) to waive competitive bidding requirements;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has determined that it is necessary
and in the best interests of the City to order and make the Emergency Repairs.
NOW, THEREORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City of Canton hereby finds as fact the recitals set forth above and are incorporated
herein as though fully set forth;
2. Any applicable competitive bidding requirements set forth by Illinois law and the Canton
Municipal Code are hereby waived;
3. Emergency Repairs utilizing Laverdiere Construction, Inc., in an amount up to $50,000.00,
are hereby APPROVED;
4. The Mayor, or his designee, is hereby authorized to execute and deliver any and all
agreements, work orders orders, or other documents necessary to order and make the
Emergency Repairs;
5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effective immediately upon its passage by the City
Council of the City of Canton and approval by the Mayor thereof.
