Edwards Way th 50 North 4 Avenue, Canton IL 61520 A regular meeting of the Canton City Council was held on December 06, 2022 (6:30pm) at the th Historic Depot located at 50 North 4 Avenue Canton Illinois with zoom attendance available. The Mayor went on to read the Proclamation dedicated to Boomer Grigsby to declare th December 6 officially, “Boomer Grigsby Day”. Boomer was being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in Las Vegas on this same evening. IN THE AMOUNT OF $55,625.00 OUT OF THE MFT ACCOUNT. Keith Plavec, City Engineer stated that this is an annual ongoing contract. Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Nelson/Chamberlin to approve spray patching city streets by Ace In The Hole, Inc in the amount of $55,625.00 out of MFT account. The City of Canton’s electric contract with AEP is expiring this month which, is for city owned property such as street lights, government owned buildings, etc. The recommendation was to go with a twelve-month fixed price contract with constellation. Motion and second were made by Alderpersons Chamberlin/Nelson to approve a twelve-month contract with Constellation upon review of contract. Police chief, Eveland explained that he has been in negotiations with School Superintendent DeRenzy. They feel that it is in the best interest of the children and employees to add more security presence. This would enhance the safety of the schools. There was discussion about the increased violence by students that has been going on. After much discussion, council decided to table the item. COMMUNITY & INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ALDERPERSON JOHN LOVELL, CHAIR PUBLIC WORKS, WATER & SEWER ALDERPERSON ANGIE LINGENFELTER, CHAIR PUBLIC SAFETY & TRAFFIC ALDERPERSON ANGELA HALE, CHAIR DISCUSS, CONSIDER AND VOTE ON AN ORDINANCE WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING REQUIREMENTS AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF CAMERAS AND SECURITY UPGRADES FROM SEICO, INC. These upgrades are for City Hall, the boat dock, the north and south boat ramp, wtp, park cameras and fire department. The total amount for this is $93,840.05.
