Back in 2000 Phillips & Associates determined the building was in bad condition. Dave Maurer a professional engineer as of May 23, 2002, gave a report the building was in a very bad condition. Because of the failure of the roof water has seeped down and rotted beams and supports of the walls. If there is a trap, the city is setting itself into it. Alderman Sarff asked Jim that the citizens have wanted to save the front facade, is this still feasible? Jim Elson, this is a commendable goal but is not possible.
