HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution # 3747.« .._ :, RESOLUTION NO. 3747 RESOLUTION CONCERNING SALE OF SURPLUS REAL ESTATE ON EAST SIDE OF CANTON SQUARE (65 ILCS 5/11-76-4.1) WHEREAS, the City of Canton has acquired fee simple title to a vacant pazcel of real estate being the site of the former Drow Hazdwaze store on East Side Squaze, legally described hereinafter, and, WHEREAS, said real estate is surplus to the needs of the City of Canton and should be sold, and, WHEREAS, the subject real estate has been appraised in 2006 by an MAI appraiser and said appraisal is available for inspection at the office of the mayor, and, WHEREAS, the city council of the City of Canton has determined that the sale of this real estate shall be conducted by the staff of the city, and, WHEREAS, said real estate is located in a B-3, Central Business District Zone, is approximately 8850 squaze feet, being 48 feet 9 inches north-south and 181 '/Z feet, east- west with frontage on both East Side Squaze and First Avenue, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: The surplus real estate which formerly was the site of the Drow Hazdwaze Store and legally described as follows: Part of Lot 9 in Jones' First Addition to the City of Canton, Illinois, described as follows: Commencing at the Southwest Corner of said Lot 9, thence North 48 feet 9 inches, thence East 181 feet 6 inches to the West line of First Avenue, thence South 48 feet 9 inches, thence West 181 feet 6 inches to the place of beginning. Shall be sold to the person, firm, or corporation submitting the most acceptable purchase proposal. Said proposal shall include the proposed use of the property by said purchaser. 2. The sale must be approved by the City Council of the City of Canton for not less than 80% of its appraised value. 3. Buyer will be responsible for real estate taxes from date of conveyance forwazd. 4. Seller will provide an owner's title insurance policy for the amount of the purchase price. 5. Buyer will be responsible for recordation of deed. 6. All purchase proposals must be made in writing and submitted to the office of the City Clerk, 2 North Main Street, prior to 4 p.m. on Monday, March 27. ' said proposal must include the offer amount and the proposed use of the property. 7. Questions shall be submitted to the office of the mayor at 2 North Main street, Canton. 8. Notice of this action shall be published in the Canton Daily Ledger on March 10 and 17, 2006.
