HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-04-05 City Council Meeting Minutes A regular meeting of the Canton City Council was held on January 4. 2005 in the Council th Chambers at the Historic Depot, 50 North 4 Avenue, Canton, Illinois. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE OPENED THE MEETING FOLLOWED BY THE INVOCATION GIVEN BY NANCY WHITES, CITY CLERK. Mayor Bohler asked for roll call at 6:30 p.m. Present – Aldermen Larry Sarff, Elny Harn, Les Carl, Jim Hartford, Rick Reed, Craig West. Absent – Aldermen Mary Fillingham, and Robert Molleck. MINUTES OF DECEMBER 21, 2004 COUNCIL MEETING. Motion and second by Aldermen Sarff/Hartford, the minutes of December 21, 2004 be placed on file as presented. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Public Safety & Traffic. Council Action Motion and second by Aldermen Hartford/Reed, to waive bids to purchase of Thermal Imaging Camera for the Fire Department in the amount of $11,900, and purchased from MGS. Roll call. AYES – Aldermen West, Reed, Hartford, Carl, Harn, Sarff. NAYS – None. 6 AYES, 0 NAYS, 2 ABSENT. Motion carried. Motion and second by Aldermen Reed/Harn, to approve of the expenditure for a Thermal Imaging Camera for the Fire Department from MGS, in the amount of $11,900. Discussion. Fire Chief John Stanko mentioned that the camera will be paid by the 2004 Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant and the funds will cover 90% of the purchase. Roll call. AYES – Aldermen Sarff, Harn, Carl, Hartford, Reed, West. NAYS – None. 6 AYES, 0 NAYS, 2 ABSENT. Motion carried. Streets & Garbage. Council Action None. Lake, Buildings & Grounds. Council Action None. Public Works, Water & Sewer. Council Action None. COMMUNICATIONS FROM MAYOR BOHLER. Mayor Bohler thanked Julie Smick for her employment with the City of Canton, and wished her well in her new job. January 7 is Julie’s last day with the City OLD BUSINESS: None. NEW BUSINESS: RESOLUTION – APPROVING A PRE-ANNEXATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CANTON AND PHILLIP AND RACHEL BATES. 1 Council meeting 1-04-05 Motion First reading, read by title. and second by Aldermen Reed/West, the resolution be placed upon its adoption. Discussion. Alderman Carl asked for a list of the Pre- Annexation Agreements the city has. City Attorney Ron Weber said he was working on that issue at this time and is obtaining legal descriptions. Roll call. AYES – Aldermen West, Reed, Hartford, Carl, Harn, Sarff. NAYS – None. 6 AYES, 0 NAYS, 2 ABSENT. Motion carried. Resolution being #3723. ADJOURNMENT. Motion and second by Aldermen Hartford/Reed, to adjourn. Voice vote, motion carried unanimously.
