A RESOLUTION APPOINTING RALPH GRD4M AS ALDERPERSON FOR WARD 2
WHEREAS, there is currently a vacancy in the office of Alderperson for Ward 2 due to the
resignation of Craig West,which became effective on October 31,2022;
WHEREAS,the Mayor of the City of Canton has appointed Ralph Grimm as Alderperson for
Ward 2, subject to the advice and consent of the corporate authorities;
WHEREAS, a copy of the Mayor's appointment of Ralph Grimm is attached hereto as
"Exhibit A";
WHEREAS,pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/3.1-10-50,upon the forwarding of the appointment for the
office of Alderperson,the corporate authorities have thirty (30) days to act upon the appointment;
WHEREAS, by this Resolution, the Mayor's appointment of Ralph Grimm to the office of
Alderperson for Ward 2 has received the advice and consent of the corporate authorities.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of of the City of Canton, Illinois,
the following:
1. The City of Canton hereby finds as fact the recitals set forth above and are incorporated
herein as though fully set forth;
2. RALPH GRIMM("Grimm"), of 6 Ingersoll Boulevard, Canton, Illinois 61520, is hereby
appointed as Alderperson for Ward 2 of the City of Canton and shall perform the duties of
Alderperson as prescribed by Illinois law and the ordinances of the City of Canton,
effective upon him taking of the Oath of Office as required by Illinois law;
3. Grimm's appointment shall be effective until the vacancy caused by Craig West's
resignation is filled at the next general municipal election and the person elected to fill said
vacancy has been qualified and taken the proper Oath of Office;
4. Grimm shall file an Oath of Office with the City Clerk's Office;
5. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City
Council of the City of Canton,Fulton County, Illinois.

Due to the resignation of Alderperson Craig West, I am required by law to submit my
appointment to you of a qualified person to fill the vacancy in the office of alderperson within 60
days after the vacancy occurs. Alderperson West resigned, effective October 31, 2022.
I hereby appoint RALPH GRIMM, of 6 Ingersoll Boulevard, Canton, Illinois 61520,to
serve as Alderperson for Ward 2 until the vacancy caused by Alderperson West's resignation is
filled for the remainder of Alderperson West's term at the next general municipal election.
Pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/3.1-10-50,you will have 30 days to act upon this appointment. I
respectfully ask for your advice and consent of the Appointment of Ralph Grimm as Alderperson
for Ward 2 at the Regular Meeting of City Council on November 15,2022.
