A RESOLUTION APPOINTING AN ACTING CITY CLERK
THROUGH MAY 2,2023
WHEREAS,there is currently a vacancy in the City Clerk's office due to the retirement and
resignation of Diana Pavley-Rock,which became effective on August 4, 2022;
WHEREAS, on or about August 16, 2022, the Mayor, upon the advice and consent of City
Council,appointed Andrea Jean Smith-Walters as Acting City Clerk through October 31, 2022;
WHEREAS,the appointment of Andrea Jean Smith-Walters(also known as-"Andi Walters")
is set to expire in the upcoming days;
WHEREAS,the Mayor of the City of Canton has re-appointed Andi Walters as Acting City
Clerk, subject to approval by the City Council;
WHEREAS,the City Council has consented to the Mayor's appointment of Andi Walters as
Acting City Clerk through May 2,2023.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of of the City of Canton, Illinois,
the following:
1. ANDREA JEAN SMITH-WALTERS (or"Andi Walters") is hereby appointed as Acting
City,Clerk of the City of Canton to perform the duties of City Clerk as prescribed by Illinois
law,and the ordinances of the City of Canton, effective upon 12:00 a.m. on November 1,
2022 and her taking of the Oath of Office as required by Illinois law;
2. The Acting City Clerk shall file a new Oath of Office with the City Treasurer's Office;
3. To the extent further required,the Acting City Clerk shall immediately obtain a bond of no
less than $5,000.00 with good and sufficient security, as provided by or through
Kiesewetter Insurance Company/Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust,and file same
with the City Treasurer's Office;
4. The appointment of Andi Walters as Acting City Clerk shall expire upon the,swearing in
of the next-elected City Clerk on May 2,2023;
5. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City
Council of the City of Canton,Fulton County,Illinois.
