A RESOLUTION APPOINTING AN ACTING CITY CLERK
THROUGH OCTOBER 31,2022
WHEREAS,there is currently a vacancy in the City Clerk'soffice due to the retirement
and resignation of Diana Pavley-Rock,which became effective on August 4,2022;
WHEREAS,the Mayor of the City of Canton has appointed Andrea Jean Smith-Walters,
subject to approval by the City Council;
WHEREAS,the City Council has consented to the Mayor's appointment of Andrea Jean
Smith-Walters as Acting City Clerk through October 31, 2022.
NOW,THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Council of of the City of Canton,Illinois,
the following:
1. ANDREA JEAN SMITH-WALTERS is hereby appointed as Acting City Clerk of the
City of Canton, to perform the duties of City Clerk as prescribed by Illinois law and
the ordinances of the City of Canton,effective upon her taking of the Oath of Office as
required by Illinois law.
2. The Acting City Clerk shall file the Oath of Office with the City Treasurer's Office;
3. The Acting City Clerk shall immediately obtain a bond of no less than$5,000.00 with
good and sufficient security, as'provided by or through Kiesewetter Insurance
Company / Illinois Counties Risk Management Trust, and file same with the City
Treasurer's Office;
4. The appointment of Andrea Jean Smith-Walters as Acting City Clerk shall expire at
11:59 p.m. on October 31, 2022, unless later extended by subsequent appointment of
the Mayor and consent of the City Council;
5. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the
City Council of the City of Canton,Fulton County,Illinois.
