AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF
TWO (2)PIERCE ARROW XT FIRE TRUCKS FROM
BRINDLEE MOUNTAIN FIRE APPARATUS AND
WAIVING FORMAL BIDDING REQUIREMENTS FOR SAME
WHEREAS,the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois ("City"), is a non-home rule unit
of government;
WHEREAS,the City is in need of additional fire engines to be used for public purposes;
WHEREAS,the City has obtained quotes related to the purchase of two used fire engines;
WHEREAS,the corporate authorities find it to be clearly in the public's interest to proceed
with the purchase of two fire engines has agreed,by this Ordinance,by at least a vote of two-thirds
(2/3)to waive competitive bidding requirements;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has determined that it is necessary
and in the best interests of the City to purchase of two (2) used fire engines and other
options/accessories (collectively the"Fire Trucks")for the City of Canton.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON,FULTON COUNTY,ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City of Canton hereby finds as fact the recitals set forth above and said recitals are
incorporated herein as though fully set forth;
2. Any applicable competitive bidding requirements set forth by Illinois law and the Canton
Municipal Code are hereby waived;
3. The purchase of two 2014 Fire Trucks for up to$275,000.00 each($550,000.00 total),plus
necessary taxes,titles, and fees, is hereby APPROVED;
4. Transportation expenses of up to$5,000.00 are hereby approved in order to transport either
or both of the Fire Trucks purchased,pursuant to this Ordinance,to the City;
5. The Mayor, or his designee, is hereby authorized to execute and deliver any and all
purchase agreements, purchase orders, or other documents necessary to purchase and
receive two 2014 Pierce Arrow XT Fire Trucks from Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus,
LLC, of Union Grove, Alabama, provided that the Fire Chief, or his designee, has first
inspected said Fire Trucks to ensure that they meet the needs of the City's Fire Department;
6. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effective immediately upon its passage by the City
Council of the City of Canton and approval by the Mayor thereof.
