A RESOLUTION COMMENDING POLICE CHIEF S. JAMES SLAM
WHEREAS, S. James Elam has served as Police Chief of the City of
Canton, Illinois since November 1, 1969; and
WHEREAS, Chief Elam's service to the City has been honorable,
loyal, and characterized by dedication to law enforcement in the City
of Canton; and
WHEREAS,S. James Elam is retiring as Police Chief on June 1, 1978;
and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois
are unanimous in the opinion that the service of Police Chief Elam ought
to be noted officially in the records of the City as a proper expression
of gratitude for said service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the service of Police Chief S. James Elam to the City of
Canton, Illinois has been commendable and notation thereof is hereby made
in the official records of the City of Canton, Illinois.
2. That a copy of this Resolution, signed by the Mayor and the City
Clerk of the City of Canton, be presented to Police Chief S. James Elam.
PASSED by the unanimous vote of the City Council of the City of Canton,
