AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF
A HEIL REFUSE BODY FOR A NEW GARBAGE TRUCK
WHEREAS,the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois ("City"), is a non-home rule unit
of government;
WHEREAS, the City is in need of a new garbage truck to be used for public purposes,
which will replace a current 2014 garbage truck(or refuse body) (2015 Freightliner);
WHEREAS, the City has obtained quotes related to the purchase of a new garbage truck
and the necessary refuse body;
WHEREAS,the corporate authorities find it to be clearly in the public's interest to proceed
with the purchase of a new garbage truck and has agreed, by this Ordinance, by at least a vote of
two-thirds (2/3) to waive competitive bidding requirements;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has determined that it is necessary
and in the best interests of the City to purchase of one(1)new garbage truck refuse body and other
options/accessories ("Refuse Body") for the City of Canton, as described in"Exhibit A."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City of Canton hereby finds as fact the recitals set forth above and are incorporated
herein as though fully set forth;
2. Any applicable competitive bidding requirements set forth by Illinois law and the Canton
Municipal Code are hereby waived;
3. The quotation for the purchase of the Refuse Body for $110,596.00, as described in
"Exhibit A,"plus necessary taxes, titles, and fees, is hereby APPROVED;
4. The Mayor, or his designee, is hereby authorized to execute and deliver any and all
purchase agreements, purchase orders, or other documents necessary to purchase one (1)
Heil Refuse Body, as described in"Exhibit A";
5. The Mayor or his designee is authorized to trade-in one of the City's existing 2015
Freightliner(with 2014 Loadmaster refuse body)garbage trucks to apply towards the above
purchase price for an amount of$48,000.00;
6. To the extent any actions in this Ordinance have already taken place and are otherwise
consistent with this Ordinance, said actions are hereby ratified;
7. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effective immediately upon its passage by the City
Council of the City of Canton and approval by the Mayor thereof.
