RESOLUTION N0. ~IGj
A RESOLUTION PROVIDING THAT THE CITY OF CANTON WILL PAY ITS SHARE OF THE
COST FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF EAST MYRTLE STREET BETWEEN NORTH ELEVENTH
AVENUE AND NORTH FIFTEENTH AVENUE IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois desires
to reconstruct a section of East Myrtle Street between the East curb
line of North Eleventh Avenue and the West curb line of North Fifteenth
Avenue in the City of Canton; and
WHEREAS, said reconstruction will include earth excavating, grading,
seeding and sodding, concrete curb and gutter, with miscellaneous appurtenances,
and installing storm sewers and sidewalks; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration through the use of Federal-
Aid Urban Funds has agreed to pay seventy-five (75%) percent of the cost
of said reconstruction; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of said reconstruction is $220,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the City of Canton's share of said reconstruction cost will
be approximately $55,000.00; and
WHEREAS, on June 5, 1979, the City Council of the City of Canton,
Illinois passed Ordinance No. 719 proposing the establishment of a special
service area on the North half (N z) of East Myrtle Street between the East
line of North Eleventh Avenue and the West line of North Fifteenth Avenue
for the purpose of borrowing $35,000.00 to pay a part of the cost of said
reconstruction of East Myrtle Street; and
WHEREAS, on July 3, 1979, a public hearing was held by the Mayor and
City Council of the City of Canton to consider forming said special service
area; and
WHEREAS, no petition was filed with the City Clerk within sixty (60)
days following the final adjournment of said public hearing objecting to
the creation of the special service district, the levy or imposition of a
tax or the issuance of bonds for the provision of special services to said
area; and

WHEREAS, on July 30, 1979, the City Council of the City of Canton,
Illinois passed Ordinance No. 728 making the annual appropriation for
the City of Canton; and
WHEREAS, the sum of $95,000.00 was appropriated by said ordinance
for streets and parking; and
WHEREAS, the City of Canton's share of the cost for the reconstruction
of East Myrtle Street shall be paid from the funds generated by the formation
of the above described special service area and from the funds set aside in
the above described appropriation ordinance for street improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council finds as facts the recitals hereinabove set
forth.
2. The City of Canton will pay its share of the cost for the recon-
struction of a section of East Myrtle Street between the East curb line of
North Eleventh Avenue and the West curb line of North Fifteenth Avenue in
the City of Canton.
3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval
by the Mayor thereof.
