A RESOLUTION PROVIDING THAT THE CITY OF CANTON ACCEPT THE LOW BID OF
GEORGE E. HOFFMAN AND SONS, INC. FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF EAST MYRTLE
STREET BETWEEN NORTH ELEVENTH AVENUE AND NORTH FIFTEENTH AVENUE IN THE
CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH GEORGE E. HOFFMAN AND SONS, INC.
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CANTON.
WHEREAS, on November 6, 1979, the City Council of the City of Canton,
Illinois passed Resolution No. 816 providing that the City of Canton will
pay its share of the cost for the reconstruction of a section East Myrtle
Street between the East curb line of North Eleventh Avenue and the West
curb line of North Fifteenth Avenue in the City of Canton; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration through the use of Federal-
Aid Urban Funds has agreed to pay seventy-five (75%) percent of the cost
of said reconstruction; and
WHEREAS, on December 18, 1979, the State of Illinois let bids for said
reconstruction; and
WHEREAS, the State of Illinois has notified the City of Canton that the
low bid was submitted by George E. Hoffman and Sons, Inc. in the amount of
$227,860.40; and
WHEREAS, said bid is acceptable to the City Council of the City of
Canton, Illinois.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the low bid of $227,860.40 submitted by George E. Hoffman and
Sons, Inc. for the reconstruction of a section of East Myrtle Street between
the East curb line of North Eleventh Avenue and the West curb line of North
Fifteenth Avenue in the City of Canton, is hereby approved.
2. That the Mayor and the City Clerk of the City of Canton, Illinois
are hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement on behalf of the
City of Canton with George E. Hoffman and Sons, Inc. for said reconstruction.
3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval
by the Mayor thereof.
