HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-01-2021 Public Hearing Minutes City of Canton Public Hearing Minutes October 1, 2021 11:00am City Hall 2 North Main Street Canton Il 61520 VIA zoom The public hearing was called to order at 11:00am.by City Treasurer Crystal Wilkinson, who briefly explained that the purpose of this public hearing is regarding the Downtown Business Stabilization Program. Executive Director of Spoon River Partnership for Economic Development stated the following: This public hearing regarding the State of Illinois’ Downstate Business Stabilization Program was called to order. Before we begin, I would ask that all individuals present please mute their phones or devices until it is time to speak. This closeout public hearing is being held to report outcomes and provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the program activities and performance of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Downstate Small Business Stabilization (DSBS) grants funded through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. This program is funded by Title 1 of the federal Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. ROLL CALL Those in attendance are as follows: Name: Cole McDaniel Title: Executive Director of Spoon River Partnership for Economic Development Name: Crystal Wilkinson Title: City Treasurer Mayor McDowell was unable to be present for the public hearing due to COVID 19 concerns. Cole McDaniel stated that this public hearing for the downstate business stabilization program is called to order. Cole McDaniel asked three times if there were any public comments before the public hearing begins. No public comments took place. Cole McDaniel asked all individuals to mute their phones or devices until it is time to speak. This closeout public hearing is being held to report outcomes and to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the program activity in performance of the Community Development Block Program Downstate Small Business Stabilization Grants funded through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. This program is funded by Title 1 of the Federal Housing Community Development Act of 1974 Cole McDaniel proceeded by reading the following: Thank you all for attending the hearing. This hearing is to provide all interested parties including the public an opportunity to express their views on the Downstate Small Business Stabilization application funded by the Community Development Block Grant Funds. Before we begin, I would like to ask if there is any public comment? No response Further opportunity for public comment will also be allowed at the end of the hearing. No response The total amount of funds awarded to address the needs of the businesses due to the COVID 19 emergency was $25,000.00 and was used to assist the following businesses. Official Time Out was awarded $25,000.00 which was used for salaries and wages. This program has been a great help to our local businesses and we are thankful that our businesses were able to receive this assistance. In total through this program, our local businesses were awarded $110,800.00 since the inception last April.
