A RESOLUTION RESCINDING AND REVOKING RESOLUTION NUMBER 909, (BEING A
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CANTON AND LOCAL
NUMBER 1372, AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES,
AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID
AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CANTON.)
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois,
by Resolution Number 909 on September 15, 1981 approved a certain tentative
Agreement ~~415 between the City of Canton and Local Number 1372, AFSCME, and,
thereby directed and authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the same
on behalf of the City of Canton; and,
WHEREAS, Local Number 1372, AFSCME, subsequent to September 15, 1981, has
failed and refused to take official action with respect to such Agreement x/415
even though requested to do so in writing by the Chairman, Grievance,
Negotiations and Personnel Committee on October 13, 1981; and,
WHEREAS, Local Number 1372, AFSCME, subsequent to date of September 15,
1981, has in numerous ways indicated that it feels that no agreement has been
reached between itself and the City of Canton; and,
WHEREAS, Local Number 1372, AFSCME, has, on numerous occasions subsequent
to September 15, 1981, attempted to renegotiate the aforesaid agreement; and,
WHEREAS, upon consideration, it now appears to the City Council of the
City of Canton that it is in the City's best interest to rescind and revoke
its approval of the aforesaid Agreement //415 and that it is, further, in the
City's best interest to rescind and revoke Resolution Number 909 passed by
the City Council and approved by the Mayor on September 15, 1981.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT, AND IT HEREBY IS, RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Resolution Number 909 passed by the City Council of the City
of Canton, Illinois and approved by the Mayor thereof on September 15, 1981
is hereby rescinded, revoked, made null and void and of no force and effect.
2. That the City's approval of the tentative Agreement 4/415 heretofore
reached between the City of Canton and Local Number 1372, AFSCME, as heretofore
expressed by Resolution Number 909 is hereby rescinded, revoked, made null and
void and of no force and effect.
3. That the authorization and directions made in Paragraph 2 of Resolution
909 are hereby rescinded, revoked, made null and void and of no force and effect.
4. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its passage
by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval by the
Mayor thereof.
