A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT TO EXTEND THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF CANTON AND THE CITY OF CANTON PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT, LOCAL NUMBER 1372, AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY AND
MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES, AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK
TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CANTON.
WHEREAS, on January 6, 1981, the City of Canton and the City of Canton
Public Works Department, Local Number 1372, American Federation of State,
County and Municipal Employees, entered into a collective bargaining agreement
establishing rates of pay, hours of work and other conditions of employment; and
WHEREAS, said Agreement terminates May 1,1981; and
WHEREAS, the City of Canton and the City of Canton Public Works Depart-
ment, Local Number 1372, American Federation of State, County and Municipal
Employees, have entered into negotiations to modify said agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City of Canton desires to extend said agreement during the
period of negotiations until May 31, 1981; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has reviewed the terms
of a proposed agreement to extend said collective bargaining agreement, a
copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has determined that it
is desirable and in the best interests of the City of Canton to approve said
agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the agreement to extend the collective bargaining agreement
between the City of Canton and the City of Canton Public Works Department,
Local Number 1372, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees,
which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit A, is hereby approved,
said agreement to be subject to and effective pursuant to the terms and condi-
tions set forth therein.
2. That the Mayor and the City Clerk of the City of Canton are
hereby authorized and directed to execute said agreement on behalf of the

3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its

AGREEMENT TO EXTEND COLLECTIVE
BARGAINING AGREEMENT
THIS AGREEMENT made this day of April, 1981, by and between
the City of Canton, a municipal corporation in the County of Fulton and
State of Illinois, hereinafter referred to as "the City", and the City of
Canton Public Works Department, Local Number 1372, American Federation of
State, County and Municipal Employees, of the City of Canton, Illinois, here-
inafter referred to as "the Union".
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, on January 6, 1981, the City and the Union entered into a collective
bargaining agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as
Exhibit A, establishing rates of pay, hours of work and other conditions of
employment; and
WHEREAS, said Agreement terminates May 1, 1981; and
WHEREAS, the City and the Union have entered into negotiations to modify
said agreement; and
WHEREAS, the City and the Union are desirous of extending said agreement
during the period of negotiations until May 31, 1981.
NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual covenants and agreements
hereinafter contained, and other valuable consideration, it is mutually agreed
by and between the City and the Union as follows:
1. The City and the Union find as facts the recitals hereinabove set forth.
2. The agreement between the City and the Union, which is attached hereto and
made a part hereof as Exhibit A, shall remain in full force and be effective during
the period of negotiations until May 31, 1981, said agreement to be subject to and
effective pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth therein.
3. This agreement shall be binding upon the parties hereto and their
successors and assigns.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the City has caused this agreement to be executed by its
Mayor and attested by its Clerk and the official seal of the City to be hereunto
affixed and the Union has caused this agreement to be executed by its President and
attested by its Secretary and the official seal of the Union to be hereunto affixed,
all as of the day first above written.
