HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #0937r RESOLUTION N0. 937 A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THE NECESSITY AND APPROPRIATNESS OF ACQUIRING CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY IN THE REHABILITATION OR RE- DEVELOPMENT OF THE SOUTHEAST NEIGHBORHOOD STRATEGIC AREA AND DIRECTING THE ACQUISITION OF CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois has heretofore found the Southeast Neighborhood Strategic Area to be a "Conservation Area"; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton has determined that it is necessary and appropriate for the rehabilitation or redevelopment of such Area to acquire the following described real property located in such Area, whether by purchase, condemnation, or otherwise. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: 1. That it is necessary and appropriate for the rehabilitation or redevelopment of the Southeast Neighborhood Strategic Area to acquire the following described real property by purchase, condemnation, or otherwise, to-wit: (a) Parcel Number One: Common Address: 559 East Elm Street Canton, Illinois Legal Description: Lot Number Sixty- eight (68) in Barnes and Jones Addition to the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois. (b) Parcel Number Two: Common Address: 536 South First Avenue Canton, Illinois Legal Description: Lot Number Two Hundred Seventy-eight (278) in Wright's Addition to the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois. (c) Parcel Number Three: Common Address: 256 South Fifth Avenue Canton, Illinois Legal Description: The South Half of Lot Number Six (6), except the Westerly 71 feet of even width thereof, and the South Half of Lot Number Seven (7), all being in Block 1 of Anderson's First Addition to the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois. (d) Parcel Number Four: Common Address: 1016 East Elm Street Canton, Illinois Legal Description: Lot Number Fourteen (14) in Wyman's Addition to the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois. 2. That the Mayor, City Attorney, Department of Community Development, and all other appropriate City officers, officials, and departments are hereby authorized and directed to acquire the above described real property by purchase, condemnation, or otherwise. 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor thereof. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, this 4th day of May 1982, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen Horr, Clarke, Carl, Grant, Sarff, Savill, Hammond, Kovachevich.
