AN ORDINANCE REDEFINING THE SPENDING AUTHORITY OF THE
MAYOR AND DEPARTMENT HEADS OF THE CITY OF CANTON
WHEREAS, there has been no alteration of the amounts which may be spent on offici
business of the City of Canton by the Mayor and heads of the various cit de al
for many years, and Y partments
WHEREAS, it would be in the best interest of the City of Canton for the ro
administration of the business affairs of the city that such officials may have their
spending for official business authority clarified in accordance with today's munici al
business requirements, and p
WHEREAS, it would appear that the limit for the mayor should be $1500.00 and th
limit for the department heads should be $1,000.00, e
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Canton
Illinois as follows:
1 • That the following amounts shall be the maximum amounts of city funds which
may be expended by the listed officials on official business for the city without
prior council approval:
Mayor $1,500.00
Department Heads $1,000.00
2. All prior ordinances or resolutions inconsistent with the foregoing are hereby
repealed.
3. Passed at a regular meeting of the Canton City Council by the vote shown and on
the date ~~_ day of September, 2005.
