A RESOLUTION OF INTENT
TO DESIGNATE AN ENTERPRISE ZONE
WHEREAS, the City of Canton intends to designate an Enterprise
Zone under the provisions of the Illinois Enterprise Zone Act (when
signed into law); and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council is interested in obtaining
informal citizen advice in the implementation of such intent; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary that a formal application be made for
approval of the said designation to the Illinois Department of
Commerce and Community Affairs, said application to contain infor-
mation on the proposed Enterprise Zone and the City's plans for
such zone.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the Mayor of the City of Canton is hereby authorized
and directed to execute all such documents as may be necessary and
proper for making the required application.
2. That the Mayor and all other City officers are hereby authorized
and directed to provide such additional information as may be required
by the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs.
3. That the Community and Industrial Development Committee is
hereby directed to take such immediate steps and measures as may be
reasonably necessary to effectuate the Council's intent.
4. That the Fulton County Board is hereby invited to join with
the City of Canton in making joint application to benefit proposed
industrial park locations.
5. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 3rd day of November,
1982 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Kovachevich, Hammond, Savill, Sarff, Grant, Carl, Larsen,
Horr.
NAYS: None.
