RESOLUTION N0. 988
A RESOLUTION DIRECTING FURLOUGHS OR LAY-
OFFS OF CITY EMPLOYEES FOR LACK OF FUNDS
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has determined that its' antici-
pated revenues in Fiscal Year 1983-1984 will be insufficient to allow
for current manning levels while still providing essential City services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the following named City employees are hereby laid off or
furloughed without pay due to lack of funds, as hereinafter indicated:

Bruce Negley Police August 1, 1977
Donald Rombach Police July 26, 1976
Janevera McNett Police May 7, 1969
Daniel Oaks Fire April 4, 1983 (Temporary
Appointment)
David Burnham Fire March 31, 1979
Richard Fairburn Fire January 17, 1976
John Laird Garbage January 26, 1981
Janice Bowton Water March 8, 1982 (Part time)
2. That the foregoing persons assigned to the Fire Department shall
be considered as "furloughed without pay" within the meaning of that
term as used in X18, Division 2.1, Article 10, Chapter 24, Illinois
Revised Statutes (1981); that all other persons listed above shall be
considered as having been laid off due to lack of funds.
3. That the furloughs and layoffs hereby provided for shall all
become effective as of date of June 1, 1983.
4. That the Mayor and City Clerk of Canton are hereby authorized
and instructed to give the requisite written notice of this action to
the affected employees.
5. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immedia-
tely upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,
Illinois at a regular meeting this 17th day of May ,
1983, upon a roll call vote as follows:
