HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #0994.~ RESOLUTION Nn. 994 A RESOLUTION DETERMINING THE VALUE OF AND EXPERIENCE WITH THE CITY OF CANTON BRANCH COURT AT THE END OF ITS FIRST SIX MONTHS WHEREAS, Fulton County Administrative Judge Charles Wilhelm first proposed the idea of a Branch Court to be held one day a month in the greater Canton area; and, WHEREAS, the Honorable Max Stewart, Chief Judge, 9th Judicial Circuit, thereafter implemented such concept beaining with the month of January, 1983; and, 4v'HEREAS, the City of Canton has been favored as the host for such Court and is now concluding the end of its sixth month of said Branch Court; and, WHEREtiS, the Canton Police Department, the various City officers and officials, Gn~ the citizens involved with the cases broucht before suer: Court ;,~-:~ ..~c. ~oSitiv~ e~:-eriences with suc2:~ Court; and, ~'t~LF:~%-:~ ~.`?- C~ ~`• p± C.aiitOr~ 1"i^S e}:`=:c_-lericed a COi,SlderablE' COSH save r: ~ ~-~_.v,_.- ~ ~ ~.~:_ i~tLi!edia _ o. such Court to the Cit~• of Ca-,± rr , 1tS ~-.r?~?~_ __'~~1~_S a--.~ cf~i_=-"S. That tr,~ Canton Clt}~ Council finds the foregoing recitals to be fact. 2. That the Canton City Council has, contemporaneously herewith, reviewed the concept of a Branch Court sitting in the City of Canton on a periodic basis and has found such concept to have great merit and to be of considerable value not only to the City but to the Citizens, generally. 3. That, accordingly, the Canton City Council re-indorses such concept and respectfully submits that such Branch Court be expanded and made permanent. 4. That the Canton City Council hereby commends Chief Judge Stewart and Fulton County Administrative Judge Wilhelm on their forsight and concern for the availability of judicial services to the general public. 5. That the City Attorney is hereby directed to communicate the City Council's determination to Chief Judge Stewart and Fulton County Ad.;iinistrative Judge Wilhelm. 6. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
