RESOLUTION NO. 99S
A RESOLUTION COMMITTING THE CITY OF CANTON IN THE CONDITIONAL ISSUANCE
OF INDUSTRIAL REVENUE BONDS FOR THE PURCHASER OF THE INTERNATIONAL
HARVESTER COMPANY'S CANTON, ILLINOIS, PLANT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,
Illinois, has determined that it is crucial that presently existing
jobs, businesses and industry be retained; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Canton is or may be able to assist the purchaser
of the International Harvester Company's Canton, Illinois, Plant through
the use of said City's bonding powers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council is desirious of doing all that it
may reasonably and legally do to retain jobs, businesses and industry
in or near the City of Canton.
2. That the City of Canton is ready, willing and able to work with
private enterprise, county authorities, state authorities, and all
other persons and legal entities to preserve and protect presently
existing jobs, businesses and industry in and near the City of Canton.
3. That, specifically, the City of Canton is desirious of being of
whatever assistance it may reasonably and legally be to any qualified
purchaser of the International Harvester Company's Canton, Illinois,
Plant.
4. That, in the implementation of this Resolution, the City of
Canton hereby conditionally binds itself to use its power to issue
Industrial Revenue Bonds pursuant to the Illinois "Industrial Project
Revenue Bond Act" to assist any qualified purchaser of the International
Harvester Company's Canton, Illinois, Plant. That any such purchaser,
in order to receive such assistance, must qualify to receive such assist-
ance under applicable law and must, further, give the City of Canton
reasonable assurances of the continuation of existing jobs, business
and industry in or near the City of Canton.
5. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County,
Illinois, at a special meeting this 30th day of August, 1983, upon a
roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Kovacheuich, Hammond, Sarff, Workman, Carl, May,
Horr.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Alderman Savill.
