ORDINANCE N0. g5
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6, CHAPTER 7, SECTION 6 OF THE CANTON
MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING ABANDONED AND WRECKED VEHICLES.
WHEREAS, the Legal & Ordinance Committee of the City of Canton,
Illinois has determined that it is necessary, desirable and to the best
interests of the City of Canton to amend Title 6, Chapter 7, Section 6
of the Canton Municipal Code concerning abandoned and wrecked vehicles;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois has made
a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That Title 6, Chapter 7, Section 6 of the Canton Municipal Code
be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:
"6-7-6: PENALTY:
Any person violating any of the provisions of this
Chapter shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and,
upon conviction thereof, shall be fined in an amount
not less than one hundred dollars ($100.00) nor more
than five hundred dollars ($500.00). Each day such
violation is committed or permitted to continue shall
constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable
as such hereunder."
2. That the remainder of Title 6, Chapter 7, Abandoned, Wrecked Vehicles,
of the Canton Municipal Code remain in full force and effect.
3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval
by the Mayor thereof.
